Dear Parents, Next week is the feast day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Not only is she a very important saint to Australia she is special to our school because it founded by the sisters of St Joseph. These wonderful sisters were founded by Mary MacKillop. Next week we honour Mary MacKillop and the sisters of St Joseph at our 20 year anniversary mass. A very special guest will be Sr Marea Ross, the first principal of our school. There is a saying from Mary MacKillop that can be applied to our school, “little did we dream of what was to spring for so small a beginning” That is certainly true of our school. From the roots of Australian spirituality set by Sr Marea the school has grown and flourished. Its important for us to remember what the roots of our school are and to strengthen and nourish these roots so that our school can continue to grow alongside our new and exciting Schofields community. I’m very excited to be part of the celebrations. Finally I would like to say a very big thankyou to our Parent Group committee of Nicole Grima, Karina Ellims, Melissa Gosling and Tara Stojanovski. Their dedication and hard work have been very much appreciated by myself. It was a great treasure to find such a strong parent group when I first came to our school- its not something that every school has. At the Parent Group meeting Karina Ellims showed us the fabric and colours for the new gymnastics uniforms and along with Nicole, gave us a progress report for the Spring Fair Spectacular. This will be a great community event and be a much needed fundraiser for airconditioners and carpets for the school. I am looking forward to working with our new parent group committee. They are: Erin Webster, President, Sarah Peroni, Vice President, Leanne Fiorentino Treasurer and Kylie Feather, Secretary.
