On March 24th and 25th, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is bringing their new broadcasting exhibition trailer to St Joseph’s. The trailer is a fantastic vehicle providing a unique stimulus and hands on learning experience, as well as an insight into the workings of the media industry. The trailer visits select schools from all over Australia and we have been lucky enough to be selected! We are very excited about this opportunity that is sure to be an extremely rewarding experience for students, teachers and even parents!
The exhibition trailer is fit with a fully operational TV studio where students can experience the magic of the chromo key and teleprompter, learning how TV studios operate. There is also a high tech radio studio where students can panel their own Radio Show via a specialised touchscreen program. All these presentations and performances are recorded and are available to download from our website using a unique code. There are plenty of other activities on the trailer – interactive games, exploring the new education portal on abc.net.au, self-navigating through various documentaries and more.
There are a number of scripts the students can read from in the TV studio including Sport, News, Weather or BTN, or they can work on and present their own TV script. If reading a news bulletin isn’t of interest, we also have a variety of ABC for Kids songs that participants can sing along to, or students can co-host a show.
For more information on this wonderful experience and to view the photo gallery, please visit the website www.abc.net.au/trailer .
Information regarding when each class will be visiting the trailer will be available closer to the date. We are looking forward to a wonderful, unique and engaging experience for all.

Last Friday was our Big Water Walk. Seeing our community come together, buckets in hand and spirits high was truly inspiring! Together we didn't just walk, we stood in solidarity with those who travel miles every single day just to access clean water. This event was more than just a physical challenge, it was a powerful lesson in understanding the Catholic Social Teaching of Human Dignity. We learned that every person is created in the image of God and deserves the basic necessities of life. Access to clean water is a fundamental human right. When we protect this right, we honour the inherent dignity of our global neighbours. Thank you for your support with this Faith In Action Initiative and your generous donations to Caritas Australia Project Compassion. #faithinactioncspd06 Mar 2026

Huge congratulations to this week’s Assembly Award Winners! It was wonderful to see so many proud faces in the hall today. These students have gone above and beyond, demonstrating our school values through their hard work, kindness, and dedication to learning. Whether it was mastering a tricky mathematics problem, being a supportive friend on the playground, or showing great resilience in the classroom—we are so proud of you all!
